G.G.’s Boilded Custard
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 quart milk
- 5 large eggs (beaten)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Scald 1 quart milk (Scalded milk is milk heated to a near boil, then cooled.)
- Beat 5 eggs and 1 cup sugar. Beat in 1 cup hot milk.
- Slowly beat the egg/sugar/1 cup milk mixture back into the remaining hot milk. Stir constantly and cook until thick.
- Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and strain into a pitcher.
- Cool then refrigerate until cold.
Pour into glass and sprinkle with nutmeg.
