Ingredients

- 5 medium tart apples
- 1 9″ unbaked pie crust
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 Tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- juice and rind or 1/2 lemon, grated
- TOPPING
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup pecans
Instructions
- Pare the apples and grate on the coarse side of a grater; place in the pie shell
- Mix the sugar, flour, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a saucepan; stir in the butter, orange juice, and the lemon juice and rind.
- Over medium heat stir until the sugar is dissolved. Cool slightly and pour over the apples in a pie shell.
- TOPPING:
- Preheat the oven to 400°.
- In a medium bowl, combine the sugar and flour. Cut in the butter, add the pecans, and mix until crumbly.
- Sprinkle over top of the apples. Bake for 5 minutes. Reduce the heat to 350° and bake for 30 minutes.
