Cheesy Sausage, Eggs and Grits Breakfast Casserole

- 2 pounds mild breakfast sausage
- 4 cups water with salt
- 1 1/4 cups quick grits (uncooked)
- 4 cups sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 large eggs (beaten)
- paprika
Instructions
- Brown sausage, drain well and set aside
- Bring salted water to a boil in a large saucepan/soup pan and stir in grits
- Return to a boil, cover and reduce heat. Simmer 5 minutes stirring occasionally
- Add cheese, milk, thyme, and garlic powder. Stir until cheese melts.
- Stir in sausage and eggs
- Spoon mixture into lightly greased 13x9x2 inch casserole dish
- Sprinkle with paprika
- Bake at 325° for 1 hour or until golden and thoroughly heated. LEt stand 5 minutes.
