Flavored Dessert Sauces (Lemon, Vanilla, Caramel, or Chocolate)
This is a great recipe to have on hand for many different desserts. Our favorite is the lemon sauce on gingerbread cake (we just use a box cake mix).
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 Tablespoon corn starch
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- pinch salt
- flavoring
Instructions
- Mix sugar and corn starch (and cocoa if making chocolate)
- Add to boiling water stirring rapidly until clear.
- Add butter and flavoring and stir until butter is melted.
