As I have stated in an earlier post my mom and grandmom (really both of my grandmoms) were fabulous cooks and always encouraged (made) us to try a bite of everything on the table, thinking we would grow to like it. While that worked for most things, that wasn’t always the case. I remember being in high school and my dad, brother, and I pretty much ganged up on my mom and told her that we did not and would not like a certain item she liked to fix and please not fix it anymore. Another item I never was crazy about was dressing/stuffing on Thanksgiving. I just didn’t like it. I remember going to my Mother-in-laws house for our first Thanksgiving together. Now, let me say, my Mother-in-law absolutely LOVED having her kids and their families all together sitting around the table and she loved preparing a meal for us. But, she didn’t like adding flavor to her food, so it was quite different than what I had grown up eating. However, because of being encouraged to try a bite of everything, I spooned a very small portion of dressing on my plate. Imagine my complete surprise when it was SO GOOD! It was moist, had a delicious flavor, and I went back for seconds. I love the fact that I have her dressing recipe written in her handwriting as she passed away about a year ago. So, once again, be willing to try new things, look for ways to improve recipes, and make memories. Here is the recipe for that fabulous dressing. https://www.kitchenkreative.com/maxines-cornbread-dressing/
